Swiss Deaf Youth SDY

Swiss Deaf Youth SDY is an area in the Swiss Association of the Deaf and SGB-FSS includes deaf and hearing-impaired children and adolescents as well as regional and national youth organizations in Switzerland.

The Swiss Deaf Youth aims to encourage the youth of deaf and hearing impaired children and young people aged between 6 and 30 years in Switzerland. It follows the philosophy and the interest of the SGB-FSS. The philosophy of individual youth organizations is respected.

The Swiss Deaf Youth aims to:
  • to represent the interests of children and young people both internally and externally
  • to promote the exchange of information among regional youth organizations
  • to support the coordination of appointments of regional youth organizations
  • To establish contacts with foreign countries (World Federation of the Deaf Yuth Section) WFDYS and (European Union of the Deaf Youth) Eudy
  • Motivation for the adoption of initiative and ownership by the children and young people
  • To encourage children and young people for education, leisure activities, culture and sports
  • Political exchange and opinions on current issues to promote youth
  • To take measures to improve social integration and to implement
  • Politically and religiously to stay neutral
